The Flamingo Spa offers a combination of a waterpark for children and a modern wellness spa for adults near the Helsinki-Vantaa airport in Finland.

The Paul Hauslauer influenced spa features a hot water pool, a large mineral water pool with jacuzzi benches on one side, two steam baths (with different scents) and different kinds of saunas – e.g. a normal sauna, a bio sauna (with higher humidity and lower temperature) and a spruce-fragranced sauna.

One interesting feature is a mill gear shower. The gears create a shower of alternating warm and cold water, which stimulates circulation and alertness.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and salads are sold at the spa. Because of Finnish laws the alcoholic beverages have to be consumed inside the bar area, and cannot be taken to the pools. There is also a spa shop near the entrance to the spa. The age limit to the spa is 20 years.

Spa Treatments

There are many kinds of spa treatments available at flamingo, especially ones with Asian influences. The massages include aromatherapeutic massages, hot stone massage. There are also wraps, sea salt scrubs and treatments for the face, hands and feet.

Several relaxation treatments are available for groups, such as different kinds of steam bathes and a ceremonial foot bath.

The spa treatments cost about 40-120 euros. There are also packages which include 2-5 different treatments, costing 80-250 euros.

Waterpark

The Maya-themed waterpark is meant for children, but can also be enjoyed by grownups. Besides the several swimming pools there are several different kinds of waterslides, some suitable even for toddlers, but others are very frantic and only suitable for older kids.

The waterpark also features a stream pool, a jumping pool and two different jacuzzis. Other pools have water temperature of 31-32C (87.8-89.6F), but one of the jacuzzis is warmer at 34C/93.2F.

There is also a café and a Hesburger restaurant.

Location

The Flamingo Wellness Spa and Waterpark is located in the entertainment center Flamingo in Vantaa, near the Helsinki Vantaa airport and about 15 km from the Helsinki city center. Several buses go there from the Helsinki main railway station, including the airport bus 615. From the airport you can take e.g. bus 51 or 61. The night buses 400N and 600N also stop near Flamingo.

The Flamingo entertainment center, biggest in the Nordic countries, also contains a cinema (with 3D features), several restaurants and cafés, a bowling arena, a mini golf range, a gym, a casino and a nightclub. It is right next to the Jumbo shopping center, one of the biggest shopping malls in Finland. The entertainment center is open 24/7, but many features have limited hours.

The spa hotel, Sokos Hotel Flamingo, has over 300 rooms, but there are also several airport hotels nearby.
